A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed. It feels an impulsion, this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons. Richard Bach
Giovanna Benzi, with virtuosities of sign and color, creates works in which sky and clouds become protagonists of aerial landscapes in which the silence of metaphysical memory is an imaginary ideal of stillness. The artist looks back to the great artists of the past and modern, with curiosity and interest outlining with her own language her oasis of beauty that is, fundamentally, a journey of inner research, a glimpse of salvation sought beyond the contingency of the quotidian. This is how these works of extraordinary beauty are generated, in which the repetition of the subject is an exercise in style, a poetic study on the same theme that presents itself in a different way, thanks to the pictorial ability of Giovanna Benzi. After all, clouds, aren’t the “place” where all the forms of the world are deposited?
